ESDC gives out $300,000 locally
Empire State Development Corp., the state’s economic development arm, has approved more than $300,000 in grants to two local businesses to help fund their expansion.
The money includes $200,000 for Breton Industries in Montgomery County, which makes fabrics for the military. Breton is constructing a 20,000 square-foot addition to its existing 60,000 square-foot addition as part of a $1.3 million expansion project.
Also, Taconic Farms, which breeds mice for medical research at the University at Albany’s campus in East Greenbush, was awarded a grant of $105,468 for a new 23,000 square-foot facility and the renovation of another building. That project, which was announced two years ago, totals $7.7 million.
