“Banker Man” feasts on consumer flesh

26 April, 2010

As financial reform embroils Washington for yet another day and Americans digest the details of yesterday’s ten-hour Goldman Sachs grilling, one Wall Street fat cat is still finding a way satisfy his voracious appetite.

Banker Man, the bloated brain child of Consumers Union, was roaming Capitol Hill today, picking off unsuspecting citizens and eating them whole. The message: We need financial reform to ensure that the banking industry—and many nonbanking entities—can no longer prey upon consumers. Without reform, including control of outrageous fees and hidden costs, says CU, owner of Consumer Reports, we’re doomed to repeat the last two years’ financial fiasco. CU maintains that poor oversight of financial services allowed banks and Wall Street firms engaged in reckless behavior that resulted in record home foreclosures and job losses.

Banker Man’s prey are actors dressed as construction workers, office workers and tourists.
